Community Involvement

Sheila Roesler has served on the boards of The Boys & Girls Clubs of Ft. Wayne, the Ft. Wayne Estate Planning Council, the Notre Dame Club of Ft. Wayne and the Ft. Wayne Association of Insurance & Financial Advisors (NAIFA - Ft. Wayne).  The Ft. Wayne chapter of ND WomenConnect was begun under Sheila's leadership; she's now actively involved in the Indy chapter of NDWC.

Sheila supports a number of not-for-profits and service organizations within and outside of the Ft. Wayne and Indianapolis communities.  Her current active volunteer commitments are with Gleaner's Foodbank, Indy Humane Society, Notre Dame Club of Indy, Coburn Place, Indiana Sports Corp., INdy SurvivOars and various efforts within and through her church and client community.

Sheila makes an annual medical mission to Haiti with Notre Dame classmates and friends, where mobile medical clinics are conducted atop remote mountains and in busy, still re-building neighborhoods, orphanages, churches, schools, and community centers (which don't vaguely resemble what you might envision here in the US). The group has recenty begun supporting a private school in ND's 'home base' of Leogane; very few children make it to or through the 5th grade in Haiti as no public school system exists, and only the wealthy can afford most private schools. Education is THE way up and out of the poverty enveloping this beautiful country and its people.

Wine, Women, Wealth and Health

Sheila hosted a  diverse & dynamic group of women to inspire and educate each other on things that matter.  A recent gathering featured nutritionist, author and mother Marcia Crawford.  Marcia’s latest book, The Care and Feeding of an Almost Adult: A Nutrition Guide for the Young and Wireless, inspired the Sheila’s most recent session.  Marcia's engaging presentation sparked interesting discussion and lively debate.  Sheila was thrilled to have her speak, glad everyone had a terrific night out, and hopes all our guests keep coming back as we continue to delve into topics of interest to women.

Prior sessions included an informative presentation on preparing for and effectively delivering elder care, most typically to our parents or spouse.  Mary Jo Bland of ProActive Elder Care shared from her personal experience, and her heart.  Please let me know if you'd like to meet Mary Jo.
